About this company

About us:

The history of Allied goes back 400 years to a time when moving meant loading everything up on a horse-drawn carriage. Over all this time, we’ve established an unparalleled network of service providers and developed processes that guarantee no other company will be able to compete with the moving experience we can offer you.
We facilitate relocations all over the world and offer customized solutions for any type of move, whether it’s local, interstate, or international.

At Allied, we understand how stressful it can be to have all of your cherished belongings packed up and shipped off to cross the ocean in a plane or aboard a ship. As part of our commitment to guaranteeing you a smooth transition to your new home, we provide services whose quality and level of personalization no other company can match.
We begin every move by assigning a personal move coordinator who will oversee the process from the planning stages all the way to unpacking. Your move coordinator will serve as your single source for answers to important questions and guidance at each step of the move.

Incredibly frustrating

The initial person I talked to on the phone was amazing, so I booked my move.
My case manager on the other hand was not amazing, she was incredibly inept and made my move from start to finish a nightmare. She left things to last minute, didn't pass on information and changes, gave information and advice that was wrong and basically made the move a million times more stressful than it needed to be.
Got to NZ and the hits just kept on coming...
Save yourself some stress, don't use Allied Pickfords.

A real mess

The person who came in the first place underestimated. The Packers did not turn up with the right boxes, so in turn some of our valuable items were damaged. After several emails, some of which were ignored, the second drop which was 9.5 meters only, we lost seven large tea chest size boxes from that consignment. We took out insurance with SIRVA and have just now found out that they will not pay out anything on our claim.

Disaster from start to finish

Absolute cockup from start to finish.
I chose them because the price was reasonable and the first person I talked to was great.
It all when down hill from there... Stuff ups on both sides of the Tasman - I would never recommend them to anyone.

Unprofessional

Thieves. Do not use them, they nick your stuff. I've lost thousands worth of tools, tool chest, toys, books, jerry cans. motorcycle parts, the list goes on. I wouldn't even trust them to move a stone from one end of the garden to the other. Items were loaded in Australia, but some how didn’t come out of the container in the UK.

They are supposed to be investigating the move so they can 'improve their services'. But they have wiped their hands on the matter and behave as if the items never existed. Their trick is to alter the inventory to make items disappear. Very clever, but they fail to recognise the customer signed the original as all items being present and correct, so legal action against them is very easy.

Damaged furniture, this happens when moving, we've moved a lot so understand the risk. The insurance claim is still ongoing - 14 months later, the assessor is quibbling over the most ridiculous matters.

They are not a premium company. What we saved on the moving costs, we have lost 5 fold on their unprofessionalism.

Good until Packers arrived

Going through the process of the quote and assessment was good, except the Assessor under quoted. When the Packers came and went through to pack it all they left half of the boxes ordered and paid for behind. So some of our items were just wrapped, which in turn became broken. I now have to get these items assessed and get quotes to see if the insurance which we took out with Allied Pickford will pay for them. We have to have receipts for these items even though we have had them for twenty years or so.
They filled the container only to find that we still had another ten meters or so left. This was put into a half container. When I inquired as to when this part container would arrive, the answer was evaded, until about two weeks later they said that it would arrive in a months time. Eventually when it did arrive we were missing approximately 8 tea chests containing in the most part tools of my Partner trade. We are still finding what has gone missing.

DISAPPOINTING

PLEASE DO NOT GO NEAR THIS COMPANY
Allied Pickfords Australia gave me a time window when they said they would arrive to pick up my stuff . They were very late with no communication from them .
I rang them twice and the second time their Perth Manager hung up on me . Then they decided not to turn up with again no communication as to why this was the case .
Truly a very SAD Company with USELESS MANAGEMENT that has no manners or communication skills . Once again PLEASE AVOID this company -TOTALLY USELESS .

DISAPPOINTING

PLEASE never go near this company .
The company indicated a pick up time window and were very late . There was no communication from their Perth office except when I rang them and their staff especially their Manager was the very RUDE and hung up on me .Why this company employs people like this only reflects the management of the whole organisation.
Then a mix up happened with the wrong company picking up my possessions . Pickfords failed to turn up with no communication as to why this action .
I managed to get my possessions returned some two hours later much to my relief .Once again I have never encountered a company so RUDE with POOR ATTITUDE and SADLY MANAGEMENT that is truely USELESS .
My move was from Perth ( Western Australia ) to New Zealand with myself in New Zealand and in the end I just cancelled my move .

Don't even deserve one star!

They don't even deserve one star
They are so bad at their jobs, it makes me angry they are somehow the main shipping coming in Aus. I've had the unfortunate experience of using them four times.
They do not do their basic jobs. They're the worst communicators. Not only do they not provide updates they don't reply to emails. They lose forms you've already sent and filled in. They ignore your shipping until you contact them asking what's going on.
We also used their packing service and they wrapped one bottle of nail varnish into a ft worth of wrapping. Meaning in the end there were THREE times the amount of boxes then there should have been.
Con artists!
They also didn't pack what was asked and left valuable items behind that were not able to be recovered.
How they're still in business is beyond me. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

very unprofessional

the first visit was good, we compared cost and received 4 qutes they were the most expensive 15% after a quick negotiation we agreed 0n $10,000 for Italy without insurance; the office staff were nice and helpful and my contact in Italy via them were also good. We paid and began to prepare as instructed; the first crew arrived on friday 2 August 2019 preparing for the second and final crew the following Monday 5 August 2019, on arrival the team leader was grumpy, unprofessional an very poorly presented, he was complaining a lot about everything and impacted on all very negatevely in what was a stressful situation. He eventally decide that he had finished the job and when I requeste for a box of power tool and tools he simply refused arrogantly with this quote: ÿou are allready over your quota and a closed the door. I requested again to open the door and put the box in as all my tools were near new and the value was near $1,000 and I needed the tools, again with a provocative attitude he refused to load an expensive item upon my request and leaving other items as well; this was witnessed by 3 people helping and his 2 members of the crew.
I requested a response from the director once the stuff arrived in Italy via Bollinger remuvalists fro Milan, which were very professional, helpful and accomodating 10/10 marks for them. The director never responded and after a solicitation I received a ridicolous email which was quite inflamatory and anprofessional. I responded explaining the problem again suggesting a sum of money to be refunded to cover the purchase of new tools which were left to one of my helpers, togeter with a microwave convention oven and other items the were left by his team. He never got back to me, and later wrote to his administration and again never received a replay. We are very dissappointed as we feel this action by them is both unfair an unprofessional and very costly. We feel that Allied Pickford Gold Coast are cheats.

Amazing considering all the work that needs to be done!

Highly recommend this company!!! A flawless experience... some of the agents could have been a little more personable but overall a pleasant experience. The only downfall was that I shipped in plastic tubs. Not a good idea. A lot of the tubs were broken but the items inside were fine... Note to self—use cardboard boxes! :)

a bad team leader and a bad director

i like to point out that every one else was very good, only this two are responsible for a bad deal; this is my last letter to the director in response to his reply which was solicited as he never responded to, and when he did was a poor response, unprofessional and with no sign of customer care.

Dear Paul director of allied pickford,

Thank-you for your empathy.

In regard to " I HAVE ACCOMPANIED THE REMOVALIST IN INSPECTING THE PROPERTY TO ENSURE THAT ALL ITEMS TO BE REMOVED HAVE BEEN UPLIFTED” On the list provided by the removalists I signed that what was listed had been uplifted. By this time your employee had already advised that he would not be reopening the truck to add another box. There was nothing we could do about it at the time.

In the statement "I AM SATISFIED WITH THE QUALITY,TIMELINESS AND PROFESSIONALISM OF SERVICE PROVIDED BY THE REMOVALIST WHO UNDERTOOK MY UPLIFT" I saw this as a general statement regarding the majority of the lift not one specific person and situation. I felt, as with all general feedback, I did not want to have one specific person or situation to reflect poorly on the other men who had done a fine job. Therefore as a general question, the general answer was in the affirmative.
The entire process was two days and insofar as the entire process is concerned we were overall very happy with the professionalism of the crew. It was one person, who was in charge on the second day that was not as professional as the rest.

After an exhausting two days of packing up a house then having to get organized for an international flight the following day, by the time the incident in question occurred we were not in any state to argue. We made the request and it was flatly refused.

The point in question is that your employee unreasonably refused to put one more box containing valuable equipment onto the truck. There was no reasonable excuse for him to refuse this request. The other employees were embarrassed by his actions and all of them expressed that they would have put the additional box on the truck, however they were not in charge and could not override the decision.

Not only this but the employee in question made the excuse that we were already over the amount that we were supposed to be allocated for the move. This is ridiculous given that we had someone come out to our house and see exactly what needed to be moved and we were charged accordingly.

For the items left behind in the kitchen I am prepared to not worry because they were not packed and I can take responsibility for overlooking these items, however the tools were packed and I specifically requested that they be put on the truck and this request was refused.

At this point for a company such as Allied Pickford to charge us AU$10,000, have an employee refuse to add one more box to a load costing us valuable tools that we wanted to take with us is really outrageous behaviour.

The box a heavy duty black box with yellow lid left behind contained the following power tools which were near new:

AEG cordless jigsaw-current cost to replace AU$199
AEG cordless drill-current cost to replace AU$299
AEG drill bit set-current cost to replace $89 de Walt
AEG dust free sander-current cost to replace AU$129
RENOVATOR-current cost to replace AU$159

This does not include other incidental items such as spare sandpaper sheets, measuring tapes, screws/nuts & bolts/nails and a lot more.

What we are requesting is a refund of the replacement cost for the major items your employee refused to load on the truck. It was unreasonable to refuse on the basis that he had closed the container. The truck was still on the property. Had he already left and we called to request he turn around and pick up a box left behind I would understand the refusal however this was not the case.

Consequently we request the refund of the replacement cost of the major items your employee unreasonably refused to load. As per above, the total amount is $500.

Yours sincerely,
Ernesto Zucchi

the team leader and the director

Great until the last day when the team leader arrived with an attitude on a very busy day, he complained about his own colllegues and was cat's arse all day, and at the end we asked to load a box of tools/power tools and he refused on the bases that his estimator had under estimated the load and that he had just closed the door of the container, there was rooom to load but refused to do so; the director eventually contacted us quite sadly having requested a contact twice, unprofessional mannerism was evident from this two, every one else was good but sadly they are involved with 2 people that have no idea and cost us money on top of what was allredy the most expensive company of four quoted received. The Italian side Bollinger Milan absolutely a pleasure to deal with, a professional crew led by a professional man.
Still waiting a response fro Mr Director of Allied Pickford for recompense of $500 to ward the purchase ofreplacement power tools and tools in the large heavy duty plasti container that they refused to load and left it behind.

The worst moving experience of my life

I am sad to report that my recent move with Allied Pickfords From Melbourne to Singapore was the worst move of my life. The ‘Careful movers’ they are not.
I am a seasoned veteran to moving internationally (My eighth move over 20 years) and this is my second move with Allied Pickfords and am sorry to report I cannot use this company again nor recommend your company to others.
Firstly, only two people did the packing in Melbourne. In Australia the team of TWO (A married couple) was in my house for over 13 hours and treated my things like rubbish. I would have packed the things myself if I knew it would take so long and if the job was going to be done so badly. They also kept the worst inventory I have seen – after 114 boxes were packed, they NEVER marked anything properly, and specifically the bed screws, so the unpacking crew on this side also had trouble finding them until one of the LAST boxes. The crew on this side was as shocked as I was.
My container arrived end of June with the initially proposed date of moving from their side was Monday July 1st. My apartment was not available until that same Friday July 5, and I had to pay storage costs of SGD $1185.58 for those 4 days. As a returning customer, I could not believe I had to pay a ‘month’ storage costs that could NOT be ‘pro rata’ for the 4 nights that my stuff needed to be in transit, but my company generously agreed in covering this cost.
I organised well in advance with my company (Based in the U.S with a 13hr time difference) who assured me this money would be remitted, and it was. Only one day before (On July 4th) the agent decided to check to see if the money had been ‘seen’ in their account and she kept repeating there would be no move ‘tomorrow’ without it, so I paid her personally AGAIN – Twice now for the same 4-day period (2 x SGD1185.58). It took OVER A WEEK to get refunded MY money ! I have also asked her about the insurance claim and was told that the insurance company will contact me directly, and its not almost SEPTEMBER and they are only coming to repair my DAMAGED items this Saturday... I also have to pay $97 excess for them to actually fix the items they broke.. I'm furious hence the length of this email!
There is nothing positive to say abt this move.....

Quick, efficient and professional

I could book the movers quickly and they were very efficient on the day of packing. The price I was quoted seemed fair in comparison to other companies. When I contacted the company via email or phone they were very helpful (especially with this being the first time I've hired a moving company).

Stressful, traumatic, quite frankly a nightmare!!!!!

Allied Pickfords must rank as close to the top of the most uncaring, mercenary companies I have ever had the displeasure of being associated with and I have worked all over the word in a professional capacity for nearly 45 years. During that time I have had the privilege dealing with thousands of international companies. The stress we have been through over the past 10 weeks as a result of the uncaring attitude (to the point of, in my view, gross incompetence) by Allied Pickfords’ staff on the departure side (Perth, Western Australia) and the receiving side (Johannesburg, South Africa) has beggared my belief and the ethical standard of their conduct (or rather lack thereof) of has astounded me. Once the contract had been signed and my money was in their bank account I rank their communication as 1/10 and their operational support in Perth as 0/10. The reasons we elected to contract Allied Pickfords (the second most expensive of 4 quotes obtained) for our move related to the fact that we would be dealing with the same company on both sides of the Indian Ocean, plus the fact that they carried their own insurance. Both reasons turned out be firstly, totally invalid, and secondly both of those reasons that we thought were positives, turned out to be extreme negatives. Then, on arrival in South Africa we experienced extortionist conduct from Allied Pickfords and I’m very happy to share the sordid details of their, what I consider to be horrendous ethical conduct in that our shipment was held to ransom and we were threatened with non-delivery unless we forked over an additional ZAR20,000. As pensioners on a very limited budget this was devastating to us! The cause of what led to the levying of those additional charges is still under investigation and potentially sub-judice however we found their actions to be completely mercenary, uncaring and unethical, and their conduct caused us horrendous stress throughout the ordeal. Whilst they will no doubt deny it, the jury is still out on whether the alleged addition costs incurred were as a result of an Allied Pickfords staff member not doing his job, or pure bad luck. At this stage I’ll not comment further however believe the former to hve been the case, or potentially even worse!!!!

Would NEVER recommend Allied Pickfords

Boxes where picked up in Blackwall, NSW on Wednesday the 18th of April and payment was made at the pickup day. Allied Pickfords only informed me of the status of the shipment after I asked, NEVER got any info without asking, very disappointing. Clearance of the shipment in Tunis exactly six months later, October 18th, delivery of shipment the following day. Agent here in Tunisia very helpful and no problem with Customs. Would NEVER recommend Allied Pickfords to anybody for wide world shipments

A very well coordinated company

A very well coordinated company that provided great service..reasonable pricing...and most importantly a human approach.
Given I was located in a regional area the initial meeting had to be completed via a video conference...this was probably the weakest link of the whole chain as any ambiguity in accountability can lead to incorrect quoting...I provided AP som feedback and suggestions to further strengthen this aspect of what other wise is a seamless process that covered 5 departments over 3 states...

Not at all satisfactory

Not at all satisfactory. Representatives kept asking for documentation that was obviously inappropriate – eg- asking who was/will be my employer in France, when it has been stated that I did not yet have an employer in France. Then claiming they had to ask this because their french colleagues insisted upon it. A seeming lack of expertise or nous in dealing with an Australia/France move was constant. The whole shipment took many weeks longer than we were told it would. We had booked flights to meet the shipment on arrival, after which we had to return to Australia for our daughter's wedding. The delivery was so late that we could not be wait here until it arrived and so had to pay an extra 1000€ for storage. Etc etc. Very disappointing. Never again.

Allied pickfords were great

Allied pickfords were great, possibly could focus a little more on preparation and warnings a little more, however in our case its a shared blame as for most of our move was great apart from partner company delays/dilemmas lack of customer service they were good however it would of been nice to know that all our efferorts to pack nice neat would be nullvoid after customs damage and repack boxes labled kitchen with everything from kidstoys to bathroom and garden tools. Once again though allied pickfords in Australia the service and sales where near perfect and hassle free would use again with the knowledge we now know.

All was good on day one but then they brought a retiree to help with the move. Progress was at a glacial pace and therefore the only two main stipulations we had: to be finished by 3pm, and to keep our super king mattress flat and well packaged at all times, were not met. This resulted in my last day in australia being spent hanging around for another, larger van to arrive. Thanks Allied Pickfords!

We feel that the man who came to pack our belongings on the day was put under too much time pressure! I don't believe one person per three bedroom house is adequate, although two other men joined him much later in the morning. Moving is always stressful for customer's no doubt but we found that many items were left unpacked e.g knives and forks, some clothes, shoes. It was hard to know how much direction to give to the packer, under such time pressure, communication was difficult and how to deal with so many decisions on the spot. I don't want to imply that it is all down to the Allied Pickfords person packing up items, we weren't fully prepared either. To reiterate - I definitely don't want to blame the individual packer involved at all (he worked his socks off!) we believe he had far too much to do for one person!!! No doubt Allied Pickfords are saving money in this area (in contrast to the PR area) and it is depressing to be aware it - we felt implicated.

Regardless of the fact that there was a fire on ship which caused a little delay 100 days door to door hugely excessive. Considerable small damage and French delivery left in hurry leaving over 20 boxes unpacked. No positive proof but appear to be missing a few cartons. Insurance required quotes from foreign country in foreign language within 1 month, total impossibility as would have found it hard to find people to quote in Australia in English for some problems. Grin and bear it but certainly no recommendations.

Allied Pickfords - Australia

Excellent service from start to finish. Would strongly recommend their services. All Australian staff were most helpful along with the majority of the U.K. Staff I spoke to.
