Very disappointing. Manoj is an unscrupulous salesperson.
I thought I had got myself a very good shipping company, to send my shipment to Australia with. The reviews given were not
complimentary to the company, and in particular to Salesman Manoj. However, he gave me to understand that the people who had given those couple
of reviews were, very hard to deal with people who expected more than was paid for. Knowing how businesses work, I knew that
some customers can be quite unreasonable. Their quote was good and things seemed to be fine so,I gave them my business .... big mistake!!! I have
lived to regret it whole heartedly.
To anyone who wishes to use them, my advice is please don't .... they are not at all trustworthy. Manoj is unscrupulous and out to get as much of your
money as he can, even at the cost of not giving you the coverage you have paid for.
I find out now that the negative reviews were absolutely correct and that this company, and in particular the sweet-talking Manoj,
is most unethical and unreliable and does not stand behind his word. It is in fact a con business which promises and delivers, HOWEVER, if
you run into any problems during delivery, it does not honor its commitments and its word. As per what Manoj said to me when I
mentioned giving a bad review, if he did not return me the money his Company needed to to... he said we have been in business for 11 years
now despite bad reviews.
Anyway, HERE ARE THE PROBLEMS I HAVE RUN INTO WITH THEM AND I HAVE ALL THE PAPERWORK AND BANK TRANSACTIONS TO PROVE IT.
1. They gave me an initial quote of approximately Rs. 90,000 for sending my stuff from Pune, India to Melbourne, Australia.
They did not send anyone to check out my stuff and then give me the quote. I was new to all this moving stuff and no one I knew had done the same,
so I had no one to guide me. I liked the way Manoj explained things to me & the price they quoted me & so I gave them the job.
2. The shipping day came & I had a lovely 5 young men who came & packed up the stuff for me. They did their job really
well & were very pleasant to have around. But, when my stuff was almost 3/4 packed, I got told that my dining table could
not be dismantled & had to be either left behind or sent as it was, which meant that the volume, & consequently, the
price would go up. THIS WAS SOMETHING THAT A PROFESSIONAL AND HONORABLE COMPANY WOULD HAVE CHECKED ON
BEFORE SENDING ME A QUOTE. but, no one ever came to check the shipment & I knew no better, hence, I had agreed to have it shipped with them. Being professionals, they should have done what was right by both of us, by sending a person to assess the cost of moving the stuff by taking a good
look at it, before quoting their initial price of approximately Rs. 90,000.
Anyway, at that moment with 3/4 of my stuff packed already, I had little choice but to okay the extra price, which I was told
would be as nominal as possible. Later, after the stuff had left and gone I got told that it was going to cost me a total of
Rs.210,000. An astronomical amount, which, had it been quoted earlier, I would not have accepted and would rather have left my
stuff than take it with me. But,the stuff had been sent and I had no other option but to pay the bill.
However, I was also told that this amount would cover all my costs, including those to be paid in Australia. So that, there
would be no more to pay. That made me feel a bit better about the payment.
3. However, when the stuff reached Melbourne, I was told that there would be a quarantine fee of $187. I explained to the
receiving company that I had already paid that amount to the shipper, but, they said the shipper was not paying it to them
so I would have to do it myself.
I spoke to Manoj, mentioned by others, in their reviews & he assured me they would pay me back the money into my account in
India, if I would pay it in Melbourne. And I had no other option but to do that, before they started charging me
storage fees.
4. When the shipment reached my home, it was found that there was a dining chair with a broken leg & a picture with the glass
shattered. I had paid top dollar to have the shipment insured fully & so I mentioned it to Manoj & he said not to worry, he
would get in touch with the insurance company & that they would reimburse me for the damage so I could get it fixed with
the insurance money. The insurance money was included in the main invoice & I paid top dollar for full coverage, however, he
did not hand me the insurance papers & probably had never paid into any insurance for me as it still has not been paid to
me and he gives me the lame excuse that it was his mistake, he did not make the claim on time. But, he is not ready to pay
to cover my loss. He has kept me hanging for over 4 months telling me that he will pay me a small amount each month till
the cost is covered, but, that too is not happening.
As for the quarantine money which he, had agreed should not be paid by me in writing in his emails and sms .... but now he tells
me that it was not covered by the astronomical payment I already made and so that this could not be paid by his company.
But, I have it in written from him that it is to be paid by his company.
I must say that I had a lot of regard for Manoj, up until then, as that the young man and I had formed a nice friendly
business relationship in the months we were negotiating & actually sending out the stuff. But, sadly, the reviews were
right Manoj is not trustworthy, not a man of his word. He is a sweet-talking conman who is most unethical and dishonest and
his word means nothing, only money in his pocket matters to him, even if it is rightfully yours.
Last month, he put Rs. 3000/- in my bank, ( a measley $60) so that I would not send the bad review, telling me that he would pay me the rest as well. Now
all of a sudden he was willing to pay back the $187 for quarantine, but not the money for insurance because that took the total
money he owes me to $550. Anyway, I held back till now giving him till 10th of March to pay up the dues, but, again there is a
no show and I know now that unless I get an Ombudsman involved in this issue, I will not get any money back from his company or
him.
I would have like to have given a good review, but as it now stands, I am hoping to bring this up with the
Shipping Ombudsman and the Ministry of Fair Trading in order for them to intervene on my behalf and get me my compensation from this very unethical
and bogus company Emerald Relocations. Those giving good reviews are lucky that things went well for their shipment, but, for
people like myself what we have come up against is absolutely disgraceful.
If anyone is planning to use them, my sincere advice is don't do it. If you have any questions to ask, please do so, I would
be very happy to answer them. rituahoojaanand@gmail.com
And If you do still decide to use them, because they will probably give you the lowest quote and Manoj will let you know that
I am a difficult customer hence the bad review. (I am sure you would be an equally bad customer in his eyes, if you had to go through what
I have done and given him the review that I am giving.)
1. Please get them to come & check out your stuff & give you a firm written quote before you allow them take your stuff.
2. Also, please get paperwork for the invoice and insurance etc. in your hand, before you trust the Company, so that if anything is broken you
can write directly to the insurance company. I wish you all the best with your move, may it be a happy one for you.
