It was difficult to find movers from Canada to Europe in Oct 2021, when the COVID restrictions were still severe. The packers arrived on the date set by Jamie Wong, but the fees were increased because it was deemed that the items to move weigh more than initially estimated (many tools vs the normal household effects). I was not informed in advance that food and liquids are not acceptable for the move so a few boxes had to be left behind. Most items were pre-packed in Costco's Accent Pro Storage box (none broken), while the ones that were not were wrapped carefully in bubble wrap by the movers. Almost all of the plastic stackable moving crates and clear wall storage containers had some damage.
Delivery to Europe was delayed by 2 months but in view of the difficulties in ocean freight it is understandable. The delivery agent in France demanded that the hand written content list prepared by the packers be converted to a printable format and a value added to each item a week before delivery, something I wish I had been informed more in advance.
The biggest criticism is lack of communication, of how things will proceed, of advance warning that food and liquids cannot be moved, of how the inventory will be done, of the need to rewrite it along with valuation, of the procedure to make a claim in case of damages, of what damage the moving company will cover and what it will not (the moving company will only cover released value, which is way below the real value). Insurance was insisted on but without any explanation.
Overall, the move was satisfactory, considering no extra insurance was taken.
