Dear Community,

I am compelled to share a distressing account of my dealings with Brittania Brytons of SA Storage Management, which has unfolded over an almost three-and-a-half-year relationship.

Our engagement with Brytons was initiated by a third party who packed our home contents, but from early 2020, our invoicing and communication have been directly with Brytons. It is with great dismay that I report, throughout this lengthy period, Brytons failed to inform us of a critical incident: the theft of our stored items.

The gravity of the situation intensified when, upon receiving the police records, I discovered a stark discrepancy between the theft details provided by Brytons and the official report. The police documentation primarily listed office equipment owned by Brytons, with no mention of my personal items, such as my Apple Mac. Moreover, the TVs reported as stolen in the records did not align with the high-end specifications of my TVs. This inconsistency raises unsettling questions about the internal integrity and security protocols at Brytons.

Adding to the distress, we later discovered that some items were initially omitted from the shipment. These items only came to light when we had someone clear out the remaining goods, which now requires us to arrange and bear the cost for an additional shipment.

This experience has been more than a logistical inconvenience; it has been a profound breach of trust and professional responsibility. I urge anyone considering Brytons for their storage needs to be wary and to take my story as a cautionary reminder of the due diligence needed when entrusting personal belongings to such facilities.

The move was done at a reasonable price, All dates were adhered to, and our container arrived in Mauritius quicker than expected. The goods were packed very securely. The local agent in Mauritius was very efficient and friendly and kept us informed. Brittania on the whole kept us well informed throughout the process.

Dishonest and poor communication!

Bryton's is awful with communication. Everything was delayed significantly even with respect to simple questions (e.g. estimated date of arrival of our shipment). Our agent's incompetence was of the highest order. The company was often unreachable or very late in addressing serious concerns about the shipment. They often used excuses to get out of doing their job. Our shipment was just received, 4 weeks delayed. We are in process of filing a claim against them for A) misleading business practices and B) valuable items that were significantly damaged (and the damage could have been avoided had their crew handled the boxes with a little care)!

Nightmare. Avoid at all costs.

We still have not received our belongings which were packed in late May. It's been over 9 weeks even though the ETA was the third week of August. Not only has communication been an absolute struggle and nightmare from the beginning, we have had to follow-up continuously at every step of the process. Nothing about working with Bryton's has been easy; they were difficult to reach and continually blamed any gaps in service to load shedding and/or COVID whilst other shipping companies in South Africa met their clients' shipping expectations without issue. Bryton's miscommunication, lack of follow-up, generally uninformed responses and hidden charges were atrocious. Buyer beware. Do your research and try DO NOT ENLIST THEIR SERVICES if you ever want to see your shipment again.

Nightmare

I am not happy about the way the case was handled from the start with use following up with Grace and had to make 2 payments and every time I phoned was given a new answer...as I said new Excuse.... And then I had to follow up on payment from New Zealand to Brytons in South Africa.
Not the best client service

My container was delivered on saterday 30th November by Grace removals in Auckland New Zealand.

I was handed a copy of the inventory sheet and I ticked each number of items as the were unloaded from the truck at the end of this I noticed that I was sort of 1 item nm 23, that was my Single seater arm cheap. I had a full couch set! 3, 2 and 1 seater which I inherited from my Grandfather how passed away last year December.

According to the Brian of Grace removals he spoke to the warehouse and the gentleman at the warehouae informed him that the single seater couch was never received in New Zealand........how did this happen? BRYTONS!!!

When Grace removald started unwrapping my stuff in my house Brian called me and showed me that there's a cut across the side of my bed! He told me that it was not done by him (standing with the cutting knife in his hand) and that it must have been Brytons.... saying this I was with Brytons in my house in SA when the Brytons team wrapped my bed! Grave Removals I want an answer form the team.

And thats not ALL the whole bottom door of my fridge is dented in!

After that I started opening boxes and one of the boxes that was marked with a clear sticker fragile HANDLE WITH CARE a whole set of my plates was broken. Why then use the stickers!

With service like this I would not recommend anyone to use Brytons or Grace removals fro my personal experience.

Very professional and slick

We were very happy and relieved to not have to do this ourselves. It took so much pressure off having someone do it for you and so efficiently.

Packing was excellent-nothing broken. However, communication was appalling. Having originally been told that it would take 6 - 8 weeks for door to door delivery, it actually took19 days! Which sounds good, but when you’ve been given another time frame, it messed everything up completely. We weren’t ready for the delivery of the container, our house wasn’t ready, we had to pay extra for storage, they messed up the port situation and we had to pay extra port duties! And we definitely did not get door to door service which we paid a huge sum of money for! We are still dealing with all the wrapping paper and boxes which, if they had kept to their original time frame, they would have removed after unpacking everything. I have never seen so much paper before!!
I also told them that I expected the container to be three quarters full, and they said it would definitely be a full 20 ft container. I was correct in the end, so we could have loaded all our white goods. I will never use them

Unfortunately this is not a good review. We relocated from South Africa to Australia. Bryton's time frame and communication is poor. We arranged for our container to be available the week of the 20th Jan in Melbourne. Well it is the 8th February and we are still waiting. This after concerns from our side about the time frame. All our arrangements were based on the container being here the week of the 20th January. In the end we had to stay in an Apartment an extra week (more money). And in the end move into an empty house and sleep on the floor. Except for the time frame problems, we had to find out the company in Melbourne could not clear our container for delivery as there was trouble with payment from Brytons side. Nobody informed us and that is when we found out about the payment issues. This after we paid Brytons early December already. We are very disappointed. It cost us a lot of extra money. We as a family had extra stress, kids had to go to school feeling not settled.

My move is scheduled with Brytons - shipping hasn't happened yet, but to day Brytons have been amazing with all the preparation work. I have no hesitation in recommending them.

I have not moved yet, only enquired for costs. I am from South Africa and was offered Britannia Brytons of S.A as a provider.
Upon investigating the company further, I found many complaints about fraud and theft, so I opted not to take my enquiry futher with them. Just thought you should be aware of this company. Thanks, Maja
