Horrible, timely, lost boxes and stolen items
I moved my house hold goods from my storage from California to Germany recently. I chose to decline the insurance that the company offered, which was a big mistake. If you choose to decline the insurance, the company makes you sign an agreement that you will not pursue legal action against the company incase anything happens to your shipment. Upon arrival of my goods, majority of my boxes were opened with tape over the top of them with tape I did not seal my boxes with, and you can see inside my boxes and easily take things from them. I had 3 black tough boxes that were sealed and in good condition with expensive items in them. They were all broken on the sides, wheels were missing and they were no longer usable for storage or transport. I have shipped these military tough boxes overseas many times over the years, through APO, USPS, and other contracted entities and never have they been so damaged to the point of having to throw them away and them being useless. They are TOUGH boxes, designed to take a beating, and they looked like they were deliberately damaged and opened to pick and choose what was inside. 1 of them I had for years and the other 2 were brand new (some of my other regular cardboard boxes came in mint condition, but thats because they had kitchen items in them, which of course who would want to steal used kitchen items right?) Inside one of my tough boxes I had 4 practically brand new pairs of Jordan and other basketball shoes , and a very expensive jacket in the other. The box with the shoes was very light as I began going through my items, and those 4 pairs of shoes boxes were gone, along with other shoes that I did not have boxes for that had some high value. Also my expensive jacket was gone from the other tough box. I also received a box that was not mine, which ended up being the legs of a table, so I ultimately was missing a whole box. I contacted LA Dynamic and they said it was most likely the California Customs department who took my items and that they would double check on it. I have emailed them following up on the matter, no response. I contacted the local shipping company who accepted my goods from the states in the Netherlands, and all they were concerned about was the extra box that I got that did not belong to me, and did not make any efforts or follow ups regarding my missing box or my missing shoes and jacket. In total I lost over 1200 dollars worth of shoes and the Jacket, along with an entire box that I did not have a detailed inventory list of, but there were definitely some nice shoes and clothes in it which I have had for years.
Anyone considering going through this company to ship your goods from the states to overseas, I highly recommend you choose another company, unless you want your high valued items to go missing, and for the company not to care if your stuff does go missing. I was also told I would not go through a customs search, which ended up happening anyways, which the company also charged me an additional 250+ dollars for, which resulted in waiting a few more weeks for my goods. In total i think I waited over 4 months, and was told id wait about 2.
All of my boxes had been looked through, except for the ones that had kitchen items, papers, and worthless things that I've accumulated over the years. It was as if they scanned my boxes, saw nice items and took what they wanted. I know for a fact that I did not account for everything that was missing, but I of course am furious and hurt for having certain items that I held value to, that had a high dollar value, stolen and nothing was done about it-just ignored. All of my boxes with my nice stuff were tossed and turned inside as if they were dumped out and thrown back into random boxes, poorly sealed back together, and was ultimately shipped to me as if all of my boxes were dragged and tossed around. I even tipped the guys who picked up my stuff from storage and the guys who delivered my goods to my apartment, shake my head.
Bottom line, my boxes were opened and searched by someone, extremely damaged, I had items stolen, the company did not respond to me after following up with them, I was charged extra for a customs search, waited very long, and I am still missing a whole (big) box of goods.
Horrible.
