PSS has been a nightmare to deal with. My wife agreed not to post her experiences with this company to get a small amount of compensation, which they forced her to negotiate for several weeks. PSS doesn’t seem to know how to communicate. They are unwilling to take responsibility for their mistakes. The fine print and the formulas they espouse make it easier to deny their mistakes. Several employees went as far as to blame us, for something we had nothing to do with. They said we were delinquent in paying a charge we had never been sent. This charge came after we paid the " Final Invoice".
After 8 months of exchanging emails, PSS claimed the computer made a billing error, which caused the delay, this delay was made worse because they seemed to have forgotten that our shipment was in the warehouse. Instead of 10 weeks, it took nearly 6 months to get our things. They only shipped them when we questioned why they had not arrived.
My biggest concern is that I found their billing practices to be suspect. The final invoice was not the final invoice. Depending on your location Door to Door Service doesn’t cover Door to Door Service (according to the explanation we eventually got, also suspect). They insist you buy insurance from their partner, then your things arrive broken ( under their watch), next they charge you £100 to process the claim, (note they did nothing). Their insurance company stated the antiques were worth less due to age and wear and tear. If I were you, I would avoid PSS at all costs.

I’ve put they didn’t damage goods because they didn’t complete the job yet. They might

But they were not transparent on timing, they deceived the payment method and quote and didn’t act on good faith on refund - which is still being upheld by them.
Terrible service and I hope the governing body take the necessary precautions

PSS INTERNATIONAL – BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY !!!

We strongly advise that if anyone is considering using this company for packing, storage and shipping abroad, think again !!!

Apologies for such a lengthy review but we feel prospective clients should be made aware of the type of company PSS INTERNATIONAL are and more importantly the type of after sales service they provide.

We used this company for our move to France. They promised to help alleviate the stress of moving abroad and in the initial stages they did. However there are a couple things, as prospective clients, you should know which they don't advise you of.

They subcontract the packing, storage and shipping out to a 3rd party. In our case Britannia Newhaven.
When we asked if we should complete the whole of the insurance form we were advised it wasn't necessary to complete all of it only what we thought would be the most costly. Also it is not a new for old policy.

We didn't think for one minute we would be as distressed as we were on the day of delivery of our belongings. The amount of damage caused due to negligent packing and insecurely shipped was unbelievable. For example 1 large ceramic garden pot was put inside another without any protection between them. Even a non professional packer would know it would break. Our glass garden table had no glass left in it on arrival and the list goes on! There were over 30 items damaged or smashed. Even now 5 months later we are still discovering damaged items as we settle into our home.

As the insurance claim wasn't worth the paper it was written on, as we didn't complete every item with a cost, PSS advised we could claim under their Limited Liability, at approximately £40 an item. Which we did. That went someway to paying to replace items and disposing of the damaged goods at a cost to us.

However we felt we should not have been put in such a position in the first place.
PSS as the contractor admitted liability and eventually, after some lengthy to and froing of emails and trying to fobb us off saying an insurance claim is compensation, they offered £200. We felt we were owed more for all the distress, stress and inconvenience caused by their sub contractor's negligence and we felt a further £300 would help alleviate our situation. PSS thought otherwise. We advised we would go to the Furniture and Home improvement Ombudsman and the £200 offered was immediately withdrawn.

We sent an application to the FHIO and after we uploaded it, in the finishing text, we read they wouldn't consider compensation claims. This wasn't made clear at the beginning of submitting an application only after it was uploaded. However they advised after an initial review, they would consider our case and raised our hopes they may find in our favour, but after 2 months of reviewing our case they decided as it was a claim for compensation they were not able to provide an outcome.

We believe that PSS KNEW THAT WE WOULDN'T GET ANY COMPENSATION HENCE THEIR WITHDRAWAL OF £200 GOODWILL GESTURE but will now offer us £50 after FHIO have looked at our case.

We are extremely disappointed in PSS INTERNATIONAL for their appalling after sales service and lack of compassion for such a distressing situation, and also the FHIO for leading us on in reviewing our case. We are NOW out of pocket for putting our trust in PSS INTERNATIONAL to pack, store and securely ship our belongings to France and for asking FHIO for assistance!!!

PLEASE DON'T LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU !!!

I would strongly recommend anyone to not use PSS. Their process was a mess, from the beginning to the end.

I relocated from the UK to the US. I didn't have an address in the US when I hired their services, so I gave my employer's address as a contact in the US. PSS charged me 4 weeks of storage for my boxes in the UK, until I could find a property.

When I informed them of my home address in the US, they sent my boxes to my employer's address. It's in another state! It cost me USD 400 to ship the boxes to my home. I tried to argue with them, I sent the inital quote with the destination state clearly spelled out. They just ignored it.

My boxes arrived in a very bad state. I understand however that PSS doesn't handle the transportantion, they are just middlemen.

AVOID PSS!!!

I have so badly been let down by PSS, I had to write something here, hoping that other families will not go through what we have. They have ruined our move and caused so much stress at a time which was supposed to be the most exciting time of our lives. To top it up, we never ever received an honest apology neither from the useless “account manager” or the Managing Director. Not sure what he is managing as he never replies to any emails and the company misrepresents itself on every platform.

Before hiring PSS I have done extensive research and got the image that they are a:

family run,
leading specialist,
UK’s first choice,
experienced,
best,
professional company
who will provide us “least stressful” move possible.

These are their own words… on their own website and social media. LIES!

We have arranged a home survey, their employee has been to our home, seen every single thing we have and quoted us 4k. We have not taken a single thing more than we told PSS we would. As a customer we have done everything right, we were polite, done our paperwork well in advance, paid our invoice well in advance and waited for our moving day.

On moving day, October 2022, I was at home with my 6-year-old daughter and my husband already in New Zealand. Never knowing that our Move Manager would be on holiday – no one told me, no PSS employee actually “managed” the move.

Two PSS employees turned up early in the morning just after 8 am and packed everything, told me PSS truck would be arriving at 1pm to load everything. I was fine with this as they said it would take 40 minutes to an hour to load everything to the van.

I waited till 1pm, no one arrived.

At 2pm, I emailed PSS, they said the truck would be arriving between 3pm-4pm. That didn’t happen.

So I emailed again at 4.30pm, questioning where the truck is and heard nothing. From no one.

At 5.30 pm, I was really worried. By this time, I have been indoors all day with a 6 year old and over 80 plus boxes, piled up to the ceiling, nowhere to sit, imagine being stuck in a two bedroom flat with a young child and we were leaving for Heathrow next day!

I called every single number on their website, office is shut, no emergency contacts, no one replying to my emails (no one did), by that point I thought that’s it; I have a house full of furniture, how am I going to be able to fly tomorrow?

Finally at 18.15pm some random van arrived. The two guys who came to pick our furniture & boxes up (one of them had hardly any teeth (effing and blinding) and the other one told me he was a student and only doing this job to earn extra money during holidays!) were NOT PSS employees, their van was NOT PSS van. The service I received was NOT the service I anticipated, expected & paid for. I was expecting a professional team of people turning up on time and doing a good job. Instead, I received over booked, over tired people who were desperate to get back home to have their dinner! They actually told me so!

It was chaos/circus that night, I was embarrassed as to how it’s all handled. I had to let them use the lift as there was no way they could carry all those things downstairs in the “40 minutes” they promised. When they left it was 7.45pm.

The move was not organised, all my stuff all over the building, at one point I have seen a random man helping them out. There was lots of random shouting, lots of swearing, inappropriate banter… But worst of all, the main mover told me that our stuff was going to be left in the van on the street! Overnight? How is this possible? You do not leave a van full of household goods out in the street!! All our stuff especially our keepsakes (my daughters baby clothes, basket, toys) mean the world to us, and by seeing how they were treated clearly it means/meant nothing to them.

I was/am so very disappointed with the “service” I received, if I knew what I know now, I would have booked a different company, not a man with a van.

When useless Account Manager was back from holiday 8 day later, all I heard from hereI was; you have way much more stuff, you must pay another £1800. How is this our fault? We haven’t hidden any furniture, we haven’t taken anything extra other than what we said we would.

How as professionals they let it get to this stage:

Give us wrong estimate?
Don’t communicate? Miscommunicate?
Don’t turn up on time?
Not manage our move?
Charge us 4k for a service you never delivered?
Send us a man in a van?
Mishandle, rush our move?
Leave our things in a van on a street overnight?
Never call to explain, apologize?
Now pressuring us to pay almost another 2k! The man in a van possibly costed me £600 at most…! And that’s me being generous

PSS misrepresents itself on every available, website, social media and blog.

In my experience, I thought I was dealing with PSS, paid PSS services, however my consignment has not been picked up by PSS, not loaded on to PSS van, not stored in PSS depot.

PSS only contacted us months later to blackmail either pay or we won't deliver... I cannot tell you I honestly think they must have some AI working in that office, no human decency & empathy... We had to pay the amount they were asking as we were desperate for our furniture... When our things arrived we realized they lost 4 boxes and the two muppets who packed our things literally chucked all stuff in boxes damaging my husbands stereo, along with other things....

They hired a new Customer Service Manager 3-4 months later to talk to us but the poor woman talked to us once or twice, shocked as to how bad it was and guess what we never heard from her again, I am sure she left as the emails would be answered by someone else.

I am so relieved I don't have to talk to them again and would rather sell all our stuff then use this company again. AVOID PSS!!! THEY ARE THE WORST!!!

Simple, Quick and Easy

I organised the pick up about 2 weeks before. The paper work was sent through and all the information was that was required was passed through and easy to follow. The payment was simple, and the pick was done within a few minutes. I received my objects before I even returned home (thanks to quarantining!) Everything was so smooth and great, would happily use PSS again and recommend them to others!

Terrible

I had really terrible experience.
I requested them to collect my items (all packed by myself) by 9 am since my flight time is 4pm.
They once delayed it to 12pm, which seems fine to me but they arrived at 1:40pm.
In the meantime, to chase it up, I phoned them up but whenever they answered my phone, they always asked me reference number in the EMERGENCY situation.

PSS were very professional giving quotes and assuring us of their professionalism. They even helped with sorting out accidental packed (see comment later) dangerous items which I planned to throw out!! They knew what they were doing but the price they quoted had nothing to do with reality. They packing stuff in the boxes taking things we didnt intend to ship. If you add tons of papers and it all multiplied the amount significantly. Not much was broken (yes there were things broken and scratched) but we had to pay more and pay extra for them coming again to pick extra boxes which they didnt fit in the van they came the first time. Then we had to pay for delivery at the destination. I am not even mentioning customs inspection etc of which we knew we would have to pay. Overall they were quite good but should be a lot more transparent with the costs. There were other companies that looked good but were more expensive but claimed to have covered all the expected costs.

Packing was not done very eficiently, resulting in some wasted space and therefore an additional charge for shipping. The quality of packing left much to be desired, we ended up with damaged or destroyed furniture and more losses then all my previous moves put together. They also lost one of my boxes. The insurance that they arranged wasn’t very helpful and would only pay out the estimated repair cost or second hand value of items at origin, not meaningful when the items are far more expensive to repair/ replace in the country I now live. Would certainly not recommend them.

An excellent experience from start to finish with PSS Internationl Removals. This was a small move - just personal effects like books, art work, clothing in 8 boxes - from London to Maryland, USA . The price was highly competitive, the service was responsive, professional and efficient, and the goods arrived quickly at the destination in excellent shape. Kudos to Steve Ellis who oversaw the shipment with patience and excellent followup, always quick to respond to a myriad of emailed questions and explain many details, including customs information and provision of a specially-made crate for the artwork. I would highly recommend this company.

[London to Singapore] Everything was shipped and arrived on-time with zero damage or breakages. You can't ask for more than that. Very efficient and friendly teams packed and unpacked with great efficiency including removing all packaging at the destination. I would have given 5 stars but communication was a little slow and I had to keep chasing them for updates. Maybe that was me just being impatient :)

PSS international removals

I relocated from the UK to New Zealand at the beginning of 2017. Having obtained quotes from a couple of other companies I chose PSS on the basis of their reasonable price and my positive experience when contacting them in the first instance. Although I was informed that one person would be assigned to manage all the aspects of my move, I found this was not the case in practice as different people handled different stages of the move. Nevertheless I always received prompt and efficient service, so this was not an issue. I did not use the insurance offered by PSS: I used Letton Percival as it was cheaper; however I am happy to report that I did not need to make a claim as there was only one class picture frame broken (worth about £15); everything else was perfect. PSS use NZ Vanlines in New Zealand to carry out local removal at the destination point, and I found them to be excellent to deal with. I would definitely recommend using PSS on the basis of my experience.

Most things were already self-packed/boxed for ongoing house renovation work but was told items would be repacked in company boxes. Removers only boxed the smaller boxes and some memorabilia wedding champagne glasses, tumble glasses, and gift plate broke, computers took a bumping with broken plastic face-plate clips, etc.

The move was successful but had problems. PSS miss quoted on the cost and we paid a great deal more than what was expected. We also had to personally handle all the paperwork which we thought would be included in the service. basically all they did was supply and load a container for a great deal of money. I had to arrange everything else and they weren't very helpful or forthcoming with answers and solutions. Once deposits were paid the level of service plunged. They didn't look after or wrap our possessions very well and as a result I have lost many small items such as pendulams for clocks and keys. We had damage to our furniture and the lead packer even tried to convince me to sell my motorcycle as he didn't feel it was worth it - this was on the day of packing! I thought that a bit of a bold statement and act. The move was made more stressful than what it should have been. Overall I'm not happy with their service and won't recommend them.

I have moved many times internationally, from Asia to Africa to the UK and in comparison with the movers I used in Asia and Africa I found PSS lacking. They did not appear very professional in their premise arrangements, they got the time the packers were supposed to come in and do the packing mixed up and the packers themselves were grumpy and surly guys. The labelling of boxes wasn't as detailed as I am used to having so when my packages arrive I will find it very difficult to know which items went into which boxes. No bubble wrap was used in the packing of glassware, which I thought was strange as previous movers had always used it and I never had any breakages. Overall I wasn't very happy with the job done.
